Aside from having the Xbox and the new Windows Phone 7 most of their innovation in platform experiences have had little to no innovation

Who knows? To be honest I mean. Facebook is the dominate social platform, second to none, only to be followed by Twitter, LinkedIn, and whatever members remain in Ning’s amalgamation of social networks which are basically “Super” Groups with Facebook groups appended to them. Of course there is Google+ coming to the forefront with all the Facebook like features but spread across the Google suite of empirical services that have made the internet as organized as it would seem to be today, though it’s not as fun when your friends arent around, but that is really about to change as adoption increases but what about Microsoft?

Aside from having the Xbox and the new Windows Phone 7 most of their innovation in platform experiences have had little to no innovation. Windows Operating system that will never not be rebelled against by Linux and Mac buffs (Only being purchased by Enterprise or consumers who don’t know better), The Live (Hotmail, MSN) service which is usually full of the same people who buy into Microsoft Office, Microsoft Advertising, and Messenger folk are all examples of technologies that have been stagnant for long enough to allow other companies (particularly Web application based companies) to pick up on Microsoft’s slack, but this is nothing new, right?

Besides Windows, Microsoft has been way better at purchasing a company’s technology rather than creating technology beginning with Hotmail which was absorbed into MSN which later changed its name to the artist formerly known as ‘Live’. Now with the purchase of Skype (which does 95% percent of the same thing as Live Messenger) they have acquired a lot of patents from the original video chat client. Even more recently, Facebook partnered with Skype (owned by Microsoft) to provide video chat to its booming social platform.
Facebook already being the dominant advertising publisher for Microsoft after their $100 million partnership, integrating Microsoft’s Bing search into the social network and vice versa (integrating the social network into the Bing search engine) would only acquire access to of the “PC” users who couldn’t originally conceive having all of your computing activities become social al a social Microsoft Onenote or Microsoft Sharepoint with Facebook connect integration. This would also give MSNBC incentive to further promote comments from users of Facebook over Twitter-ers while further advertising anything and everything in its path with your Facebook profile picture right next to it. LIKE!

Why would Microsoft try to partner with Facebook even further if not acquire them? Google. Almost every product Microsoft markets, Google has a cheaper alternative. Products Google has is very hard to duplicate for Microsoft for some reason so when Google+ comes to the forefront it will not be in any best interest for Microsoft to create their own social platform or recreate Live again. It would be better for them to acquire Facebook keep the name. merge XBLA, Live, Skype, and Facebook. Along with the Application marketplace, mobile Platform. Or they could stay independent companies and continue to give each other 1 dollar while Google takes $1 from both. Do the math. It doesn’t add up for either.
